I recently got my own apartment. That's something I've dreamed about since high school and right now it's living up to my expectations. I like my independence and I can do whatever I want there. However, nothing teaches you to be a grown-up more than having your own apartment. Life stops holding your hand once you sign that lease. Suddenly, you've got bills to pay, food to buy and posters to frame.
A year or two ago, I read the book Adulting: How to Become a Grown Up in 468 Easy(ish) Steps and I really enjoyed all of the practical advice she gave and how humorously she did it. I hope that these blog posts can be similar to the style of Adulting. In fact, originally, I was going to call these posts "Adulting" but I realized I wanted something more unique. So, I thought how about "Adultology?" I googled that term and a) found a lot of mature content that uses that word b) someone already wrote a book with that name. So, until I find out someone has already taken the word "Grown Upping" I'm going to keep using that made-up term. You're never to old to make up words.
